Sentinel Incident — Beginner: Report Events Clearly and Start the Response

Create a factual incident report, distinguish actual from potential harm and hand it to an accountable reviewer.

Learn at your own pace

Three practical lessons, exercises and worked answers. Allow approximately 60–90 minutes including assessment, divided into short sessions to suit you. No trainer is required.

Before you begin

No previous Sentinel experience is required.

Your learning journey

  1. Protect people and record the event — Describe the event and immediate response without inventing a cause.
  2. Describe impact and use the location selectors — Record actual and credible potential impact and select body or vehicle locations accurately.
  3. Save, assign and link the investigation — Complete the reporting handover and retain the incident as a distinct source record.

Practice and assessment

Use a notebook or authorised fictional workspace. The linked demonstration is read only. The separate final test contains ten single-choice questions worth one point each. Seven correct answers achieve the 70% pass mark. Complete the required lessons and assessment to earn the Sentinel course certificate.

Access and scope

Enrolment is allocated by the Academy administrator. A software subscription is not needed to read the demonstration or complete notebook exercises. Editing live Sentinel records requires the appropriate account, permissions and workplace authority. Controls and menu labels may vary by deployment. This course records learning; it does not establish technical competence, regulatory approval or authority to accept operational risk.
