Sentinel Assure — Beginner: Check Controls and Record Evidence
Carry out a defined verification, record its evidence and distinguish delivery from effectiveness.
Learn at your own pace
Three practical lessons, exercises and worked answers. Allow approximately 60–90 minutes including assessment, divided into short sessions to suit you. No trainer is required.
Before you begin
No previous Assure experience is required. Familiarity with the Bowtie Beginner course is helpful.
Your learning journey
- Read the standard before making the check — Identify what a control must do, who owns it and which evidence can support a result.
- Record a verification that another person can understand — Make a clear evidence record and respond appropriately to failure or missing information.
- Follow actions through to an outcome review — Distinguish action delivery, verification and initial effectiveness.
Practice and assessment
Use a notebook or authorised fictional workspace. The linked demonstration is read only. The separate final test contains ten single-choice questions worth one point each. Seven correct answers achieve the 70% pass mark. Complete the required lessons and assessment to earn the Sentinel course certificate.
Access and scope
Enrolment is allocated by the Academy administrator. A software subscription is not needed to read the demonstration or complete notebook exercises. Editing live Sentinel records requires the appropriate account, permissions and workplace authority. Controls and menu labels may vary by deployment. This course records learning; it does not establish technical competence, regulatory approval or authority to accept operational risk.
